Mobil Rarus 829 is the ISO VG 150 grade in the supreme performance Rarus 800 Series — a fully synthetic PAO compressor oil delivering significantly longer drain intervals, lower operating temperatures and outstanding deposit control versus mineral-based compressor oils in the same viscosity grade.
ISO VG 150 is the heavier grade in the Rarus 800 Series — specified for rotary screw and rotary vane compressors that require higher viscosity oil, including larger-bore compressors, high-discharge-temperature applications and equipment operating in high-ambient-temperature environments such as Southern African mining sites. The fully synthetic PAO base stocks deliver outstanding thermal and oxidation stability, exceptional deposit control and an extended drain interval capability that mineral ISO 150 compressor oils cannot match.
Product Overview
Mobil Rarus™ 829 is a supreme performance fully synthetic air compressor oil based on polyalphaolefin (PAO) base stocks — engineered for rotary screw and rotary vane compressors requiring ISO VG 150 lubricant. The PAO formulation delivers significantly superior performance to mineral-based compressor oils: lower carbon deposit formation, better water separation, lower operating temperatures, extended drain intervals and outstanding performance over a wide temperature range.
In South African mining and industrial operations where air compressors run continuously in high-ambient-temperature environments, the Rarus 829's extended drain capability and superior deposit control translate directly into lower maintenance costs, fewer unplanned shutdowns and longer compressor service life versus mineral ISO 150 compressor oils.
The companion grade Mobil Rarus 827 (ISO VG 46) covers the most common rotary screw compressor specification. Rarus 829 (ISO VG 150) is the correct choice where the compressor OEM specifies a heavier viscosity grade — always confirm from your OEM service manual before ordering.
