The Matweld range covers light fabrication through to heavy industrial welding applications, with machines built to comply with current electrical safety regulations.
ARC & TIG Welders
Portable inverter DC arc welders from 140A to 200A. IGBT inverter technology with Hot Start for easy arc ignition, Arc Force for spatter control, Anti-Stick to prevent electrode sticking and VRD open-circuit voltage reduction for operator safety. Available in standard, digital display and aluminium case variants.
Included: Electrode holder with cable, earth clamp with cable, handheld face mask, wire brush and chipping hammer.
Plasma Cutters
Matweld plasma cutters from 40A to 100A for clean, precise cutting of steel plate, sheet metal and structural sections. Available as standalone units requiring an external air supply, and as combo units with a built-in compressor for remote sites without a fixed air supply — ideal for construction and mining applications.
Combo units: Cut40 and Cut45 available with integrated compressor — no external air supply required.
Welding Consumables
MIG wire, welding rods, electrodes, aprons, face shields and replacement parts for Matweld machines. Pre-packed consumable ranges for retail and workshop supply. Whether you need a full consumables replenishment or replacement parts for an existing machine, contact us for availability and bulk pricing.
Matair — Air Compressors & Air Tools
Orbit Industrial is an authorised Matair distributor supplying air compressors from 24L to 300L for workshop, construction and industrial applications. The Matair range covers belt drive, direct drive, oil-free and silent models — with 220V and 380V options for single-phase and three-phase installations.
Direct Drive Compressors
Compact, lightweight direct drive models for workshop, spray painting and general pneumatic tool use. Lower maintenance requirement than belt drive — suitable for intermittent use in smaller workshops, panel shops and site operations where portability matters.
Best for: Workshop spray painting, pneumatic nail guns, tyre inflation, light air tools.
Belt Drive Compressors
Higher duty cycle and longer service life than direct drive — suited to continuous and production use in workshops, fabrication shops and construction sites. Belt drive models run cooler and quieter under sustained load, with larger tanks for continuous air supply to multiple tools simultaneously.
Best for: Production workshops, fabrication shops, spray booths, continuous pneumatic tool operation.
Silent & Oil-Free Compressors
Oil-free and low-noise models for indoor workshops, spray booths and environments where noise or oil contamination is a concern. The 150L silent model operates at significantly reduced noise levels — suitable for indoor professional environments. The 6L oil-free is a compact portable unit for light duty use.
Best for: Indoor workshops, spray booths, dental and medical, noise-sensitive environments.

How to Choose the Right Compressor
Choosing the wrong compressor is one of the most common workshop equipment mistakes — under-speccing leads to the compressor running continuously without recovering, overheating and failing prematurely. Use these four factors to match the right Matair model to your application.
1. What tools will you run?
Each pneumatic tool has a CFM (cubic feet per minute) air consumption rating. A spray gun typically needs 6–12 CFM. An impact wrench needs 4–6 CFM. If you're running multiple tools simultaneously, add the CFM requirements and size accordingly — the compressor must deliver more CFM than your tools consume.
2. Continuous or intermittent use?
Intermittent use (nail guns, tyre inflation, occasional spray painting) — a direct drive model is sufficient and more economical. Continuous production use (spray booths, fabrication shops, multiple tools running simultaneously) — choose belt drive for its higher duty cycle and cooler running under sustained load.
3. Single phase or three phase?
Most workshop compressors up to 2.2kW run on 220V single phase — standard wall power. Above that you need 380V three phase. The AIR2200 (300L, 7.5kW) requires 380V. Confirm your electrical supply before ordering a large compressor — a qualified electrician must assess the installation.
4. Oil-lubricated or oil-free?
Oil-lubricated compressors (most belt and direct drive models) are more durable for heavy use but require periodic oil checks. Oil-free models are maintenance-light and eliminate oil contamination risk — essential for food, medical or high-quality spray painting where oil carry-over would cause finish defects.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — Matweld offers combo units (Cut40 and Cut45) that include a built-in compressor. These are specifically designed for site use where a fixed air supply is not available, such as construction sites, remote mining locations and field repair work. If you have a fixed workshop air supply, the standalone plasma cutter is the better choice as it allows you to use your existing compressor and gives you the full capacity of a dedicated cutting unit.
ARC welding (MMA/stick welding) uses a consumable electrode coated in flux. It is the most versatile process — works outdoors, in wind and on dirty or rusty steel. Ideal for structural steel, pipework, farm repairs and general fabrication. The Matweld inverter welders support both ARC and Lift TIG processes.
TIG welding uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode and a separate filler rod, with an inert gas shield. It produces cleaner, more precise welds — used for stainless steel, aluminium, thin gauge material and applications where weld appearance matters. Requires more operator skill than ARC welding. The Matweld machines support Lift TIG — the most accessible TIG start method for site use.
Yes. Matair products supplied through Orbit Industrial as an authorised distributor come with manufacturer warranty support. Contact Orbit Industrial directly for warranty terms applicable to the specific model and for spare parts availability. As an authorised distributor we have access to the Matair parts and service network.
Yes, for intermittent spray painting — a 100L direct drive model like the AIR2300 (2.2kW) is adequate for hobby and light commercial spray painting. For sustained production spray painting where the gun runs continuously, a belt drive compressor with a larger tank is recommended. The compressor needs to recover (refill the tank) faster than the gun consumes air — if the compressor runs non-stop without recovering, it is under-specified for the application and will overheat.
