Mobil SHC™ Gear 22M is a fully synthetic ISO VG 220 open gear lubricant — part of the Mobil SHC Gear open gear series and supplied in 177kg drum format. Formulated with synthetic base oils and a specially developed adhesive additive package that provides outstanding film strength, adhesion to metal surfaces, water resistance and extreme pressure protection for open gears. Designed for large open gear drives on mills, kilns, draglines and heavy industrial equipment where a non-asphaltic, synthetic open gear lubricant is required. Specially formulated adhesive additive package provides exceptional adhesion to open gear tooth surfaces — maintaining a continuous protective film under the extreme sliding and impact loads of large open ring gear drives.
Excellent Water Resistance
Superior resistance to water washing — maintains adhesive film on gear tooth surfaces in wet operating environments including cement kilns, mining equipment and marine open gears exposed to spray and rain.
Extreme Pressure Protection
Advanced EP additive system protects large open gear teeth under the very high contact stresses experienced in large diameter ring gear applications — preventing the scuffing and pitting failure modes that cause premature gear replacement.
Synthetic Base — Extended Service
Fully synthetic base oils deliver superior oxidation stability and thermal performance versus mineral open gear lubricants — maintaining film quality over extended application intervals and reducing lubricant consumption.
Non-Asphaltic Formulation
Non-asphaltic formula eliminates the cleaning and build-up problems associated with bitumen-based open gear lubricants — allowing visual inspection of gear teeth and simpler lubricant management.
Wide Temperature Range
Excellent performance across a wide temperature range — ensuring adequate viscosity and adhesion in both the cold ambient conditions of night starts and the elevated temperatures of continuous operation.
Applications
Mining Mill Ring Gears
