Mobilgard™ 5100 is a premium quality, high-performance 100 BN SAE 50 marine diesel engine cylinder oil for two-stroke crosshead engines — engineered to deliver outstanding performance at the elevated peak firing pressures and liner temperatures found in modern marine two-stroke engines. Mobilgard 5100's 100 BN formulation is specifically balanced to allow operators to optimise cylinder oil feed rates — reducing lubricant consumption without sacrificing corrosion protection — while simultaneously mitigating the corrosive wear that occurs in highly corrosive engines and during slow-steaming operations where liner temperatures are lower and sulphuric acid condensation risk is higher. The low volatility ensures excellent oil film retention and distribution across the full liner height under modern high-BMEP operating conditions.

Applications
Two-Stroke Crosshead Engines
Primary application — slow-speed two-stroke crosshead marine diesel engines on deep-sea vessels. MAN ES and WinGD engines on bulk carriers, tankers, container ships and offshore vessels operating on residual fuel.
Slow Steaming Operations
Specifically demonstrated for slow-steaming operation — where reduced liner temperatures increase corrosive wear risk and conventional cylinder oils may not provide adequate protection against sulphuric acid attack on liner surfaces.
Modern High-BMEP Two-Stroke Engines
