What MoS₂ Does
Molybdenum disulfide forms a solid lubricating film that reduces friction and protects surfaces when conventional oil-based lubrication films break down under extreme pressure or shock loading.
When to Specify Moly Grease
Moly grease is used where conventional greases are insufficient to protect against extreme pressure and shock loading — particularly on slow-moving, heavily loaded components such as pins, bushings and sliding plates.
Moly Grease vs Standard EP Grease
Standard EP greases rely on chemical additives to protect under load. Moly grease adds MoS₂ as a physical barrier, providing additional protection during boundary lubrication conditions where EP additives alone may be marginal.
